Europe’s Ultimate Players Among the Most Explosive in Team Sports

At the EUCS Elite Invite, the Leuven based sports tech company Runeasi tested the jumping performance of 65 elite players (40 men, 25 women) from 18 different top teams. Using their wearable technology they assessed how ultimate players compare to athletes in other sports.

"The counter movement jumps (CMJ) showed men averaging 48.1 cm and women 34.1 cm, this ranks Ultimate athletes among the best in team sports globally. Furthermore Ultimate players demonstrated really good reactive strength values, which explains their ability to quickly generate force which is critical for layouts, blocks, and sudden directional changes." says Matthias Gombeer sports scientist at Runeasi.

"Our findings underscore the growing professionalism of the top teams in Europe. Creating ultimate specific benchmarks can help players perform better with less injuries by helping them to prepare better for the physical demands of the sport at the elite level." says Tim Op De Beéck, co-founder of Runeasi and former player of Jetset and Belgium Open.
